As Chief Operations Officer at Spark Systems, Jason Lee is tasked to manage the day-to-day operations in the areas of infrastructure, quality assurance and support of Spark’s services and applications. In his career, Jason has worn the hat of a developer, author, evangelist, architect, project manager, deal-maker and operations lead amongst other things.
Jason started his career writing applications under the Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA). Along the way, he project-managed, architected and wrote the code for Singapore’s G2B eProcurement system known as GeBIZ. The system’s success led him to Geneva to co-present Singapore’s effort at the WTO.
Wanting to do more, he joined IBM as a technical leader and evangelist. Besides speaking at events and closing deals around ASEAN, he had the honour of working in Boston to co-author and publish a book (known as Redbooks) on rapid application development.
Done with closing deals for others to implement, he moved to CSC to start a business unit and hire a development team specialising in deploying and customising IBM software. In 2009, his experience led him to Hong Kong to work the separation of AIA from AIG in the areas of middleware and web hosting operations. There, he created from scratch and subsequently led CSC’s Asia Pacific web hosting and middleware practice.
Prior to Spark, Jason was the SVP for FX Solutions in Flextrade where he hired and ran the GUI development team for its FX solution. In addition to that, he also worked on planning the roadmap for the product based on market and client demands.
Jason’s dabbling in many areas also led him to sitting on the Governing Council of the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS).
Jason holds a Bachelors (Honours) and Masters in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore and an MBA from the University of Bradford.
